Stairs of Deceit
Tuesday 14 October 2025
DI Sarah Whitlock — Major Investigation Team, Limehouse
Meridian Quay, 1 Bank Street, Canary Wharf, London E14
Amelia Hart, 39 — Founder & CEO, Novabank (fintech)
At 21:31 a night cleaner found Ms Hart dead at the foot of fire-escape Stairwell A, between the 7th and 8th floors. Paramedics confirmed death at the scene. The initial impression was an accidental fall. The on-call pathologist flagged a head injury inconsistent with a fall, and the case was reclassified pending post-mortem. The 8th-floor CCTV was offline for scheduled maintenance between 20:55 and 21:15.
Establish whether Ms Hart's death was accident or homicide; if homicide, work the building's records to find who was on the 8th-floor landing during the time-of-death window, eliminate the rest, prove how and why, and name the responsible person with supporting evidence. Each stage is sealed — you'll need to prove your reasoning to unlock the next.
